About the speaker
Garry Fothergill is an Analytics Manager with experience in the healthcare sector, including work at Acute NHS Hospitals, Arms Length Bodies, the Private Sector and Healthcare Think Tanks. He is skilled in multiple Data Science techniques, including classical statistics, machine learning, and simulation (one of his specialties). He is a former Senior Fellow and Analytical Associate advisor to The Health Foundation, and a thought leader in the creation of the Analytics Observatory at NHS England and NHS Improvement.
Academic Publishing in OR Past, Present, and Future
Abstract
Through his personal experience, Francisco will review the evolution of academic publishing in OR, the way it has been structured, and the modern challenges faced by both academics and the editorial sector. He will address current trends in academic publishing, and how closely they align with the actual concerns of academics and industry.
About the speaker
Prof. Francisco Saldanha has worked in different universities and faculties, teaching many modules at both under- and post-graduate level. He has published extensively in the fields of facility location and Supply Chain Management, co-edited books, and presented more than 150 times at conferences, having received prizes and honours. He is a member of the EURO Working Group on Locational Analysis, and is the Editor-in-Chief of Computers & Operations Research.
