Abstract

In this group mentoring session, academics at all levels will be invited to ask Wändi questions about publishing, grant writing, research/teaching balance, work/life balance, job searches, promotions, career planning, or whatever else comes to mind.  She will answer questions based on her own experiences (see bio), but will also invite others to share their experiences.

Bio

Wändi Bruine de Bruin holds a University Leadership Chair in Behavioural Decision Making at the Leeds University Business School, where she serves as the Director of the Center for Decision Research (www.leeds.ac.uk/decision-research/). From January 2020, she will join the University of Southern California in Los Angeles as the new Provost Professor of Public Policy, Behavioral Science, and Psychology. Her research interests include behavioural decision making, risk perception and communication (as applied to topics such as personal finance, health, sustainability and climate change), as well as individual differences in decision-making competence across the lifespan.  She serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Behavioral Decision Making, Decision, the Journal of Risk Research, the Journal of Experimental Psychology: Applied, Medical Decision Making, and Psychology & Aging. She is a Fellow of the UK Academy of Social Sciences, the Psychonomic Society, and the Netherlands’ Network for Studies on Pensions, Aging, and Retirement (NETSPAR).  She has served on expert panels for the US National Academy of Sciences, the Council of the Canadian Academies, and other organisations.
