MSc Students presented research in a conference organised by the Met office and CDR

Date

A number of students from our MSc Business Analytics & Decision Sciences programme presented their research in a mini-conference led by Sarah Jenkins and Helen Roberts in collaboration with the Met Office. The students were supervised by colleagues in the Met office (Rosie Oakes, Helen Roberts and Martin Veasey) along with our CDR members (Aritad (Alan) Choicharoon, Andrea Taylor, and Xingjie Wei). The student Yu-Chun Lin has won the best presentation award supported by the ESRC project ‘LINK network’ (https://www.linknetwork.online/).

The Program Director of our MSc program, Sajid Siraj, also attended this conference and appreciated the efforts of both the Met Office and the CDR to organise this event and promote the use of data and decision sciences in climate-related research. We congratulate our MSc students on presenting their promising research works. The dissertation module leader, Romain Craster dit Sourd commented, ‘The research presented is an excellent illustration of how LUBS students can contribute to addressing global issues when offered opportunities by organisations such as the Met Office." Thanks to everyone at the Met Office as well as to our students and dissertation supervisors for making such collaborations possible’.
